Out With the Old, In With the New: Welcome 2022
As we know, like 2020, 2021 was a very hectic year for most. From increasing and decreasing waves of COVID-19 to massive immigration issues to worsened cases of climate change. As it is very unforgettable, there is nothing like a new year to start fresh and anew.
Every year, when 12:00 am hits on whatever clock you’re watching or a ball drops, the subconscious and conscious thoughts of having a better year than the last or working on an improved you, start to flood your head. Just as it had in 2020 or 2021, we hope it had the sounds of party horns, loud timers, fireworks, and “Happy New Year”s.
Let us take a minute, or many, to think about how far we've come, how much we've grown, and how much lies ahead in the new year as we may reflect on the previous year!
Recently, there have been many different protocols taken in order to get the city back on its feet and into a sense of normalcy again, although it can be argued that this is the new normal. Just as announced, along with the vaccine, there will be boosters for the majority to take, as a means to help fight off new variants and strong symptoms. While these mandates and suggestions are in effect, it is the plan to get events back on track for the new year. We may be eager to be in good standing with the year and all the fun being planned, but we are also considering all safety protocols before doing so. Since the U.S has been seeing a rise in the new variant, omicron, many January events have been canceled. The 64th Annual Grammy Awards show, which was to take place on January 31, 2022, is currently postponed, along with other events like Broadway shows, concerts, and multiple festivals. In addition, other celebratory events like the Time Square Ball Drop was held but was only physically accessible to a much smaller percentage of people than it regularly is. However, it was refreshing to see, as it is a tradition in NYC, and was not allowed for the 2020-2021’s New Year celebration.
According to experts, it is predicted that February will possibly be the month for a more controlled environment when it comes to the variant and cases. We are aware that you all are looking forward to being out and about soon, as are we. Here at Two Shes, we are definitely looking forward to the upcoming events held in the month of March, such as Expo West in California and SXSW in Texas. In May, the awaited NYC Vegetarian Food Festival in NY will be on schedule as it is believed that the weather changes will help the wave of cases and more people will be vaccinated. We do hope everything will fall into place this year in order for these very enjoyable events to take place and enable you all to join us as well.
Remember to stay safe, stay well, and use every second of your time to live life.
